John and His First K9 Partner Judge 1982

John spent the last fifteen years of his police career as a K-9 handler. He worked with Judge, King and Niko in Kent, Essex and Lambton counties and gained province-wide recognition. Their services were constantly in demand. In 1996, John and Niko were both awarded a Commissioner's Citation in recognition for tracking four criminals from a series of break-ins and stolen cars a distance of 22 kilometres (15.5 miles). This citation was given for dedication and perseverance in the line of duty. Niko was the first K9 to receive this award. The expertise John gained has greatly influenced his philosophy regarding his training techniques.
