Information
Dogs are social animals. We handle puppies from the time they are born until the day they leave, usually about the ninth week. We feel that separating them from their littermates earlier than this is detrimental to their development. If they are separated from their litter too early, they don’t have a chance to imprint the fact that they are dogs or establish the hierarchy in the litter. Mother is the “alpha” or boss. But also in the litter there will be an alpha (1) puppy, a beta (2) puppy down to the omega, which is the bottom end. This process is important for puppies to learn and it has to be carried on by the new puppy owner who needs to become the alpha being in the puppy’s life. If the owner does not provide the leadership for the dog, the dog will not respect him, the dog will assume the leadership role and become a problem dog.Pricing
Ravenscroft puppies are $1000 and up. All of our dogs are sold on a "first come, first serve" basis. Customers can place deposits for specific litters and first pick is given to the person who first placed their deposit, second pick to the second person and so on. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required. Puppies must be picked up in person and are not ready to go until approximately nine weeks of age. Puppies have had their first shots and have been checked by our vet. They are all tattooed and registered and have been dewormed four times before they go. Occasionally we have adult dogs for sale. These dogs are individually priced according to quality and training. Puppy buyers receive a binder filled with information about puppy care, crate training, socialization tips, training tips for all ages, and other important information. They also receive a copy of the Sale Contract, a Medical Health record and a five generation pedigree. Puppy’s CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registration papers are forwarded to the new owners along with the pictures taken at the time of pick-up. Customers can call at any time during the dog’s lifetime for advice or help with problem solving. All German Shepherd Dogs at Ravenscroft Kennels are purebred and CKC registered, and are sold with a written lifetime guarantee against congenital or inherited diseases. All dogs are tattooed for positive identification.
